She is almost forced to take her friends advice and create a profile in Chat Love. The part where the disastrous dates happens, and some other almost right, are my favorite part.

The writer says she wrote the book telling her experience in online sites and sincerely I feel very sorry for her because the experiences were not pleasant at all.

What I did not like and why did not I rate it 4 or 5 stars? There are several reasons: - It seems illogical to me that your group of friends are almost all looking for a couple to marry when I only see them as drunks.

She is feeling loads of pressure from her traditional Italian-American family to "just find a nice Italian boy and settle down". Seeing her good friends in relationships only makes her feel more lonely.

Out of desperation, she decides to join "Chat Love", and online dating site, in an effort to try to meet someone interested in a long- term relationship, possibly marriage.

But things are not always what they seem, and the reader enjoys a happy ending. I thought the book was funny, giving an accurate picture of the challenges in the modern dating scene, as well as the unique method of online dating and all the unusual people one is bound to come across.

From men with disgusting personal habits, to stalkers, guys with one track minds not only in the physical sense, but also with obsessions like politics boring the listener to distraction, and guys that want to go to the poshest restaurant in town and order immense amounts of food, then skip out leaving their date with the bill.

Plus the stigma associated with online dating that the subscriber must be desperate, or socially inept, or else, surely they could get a date like every other normal person?

Whether you are single or in a relationship, most women will be able to relate to the heroine: Lucia Pia and her struggles in the dating world.

This book started out with a scene that had me rolling with laughter, and Lucia's continuous online dating disasters kept the laughs coming. This element was my favorite part of the book.

I also really enjoyed all the secondary characters written into this story. Their dating lives were just as fun to watch!

Faeth's writing was almost satirical in regards to the online dating scene and the incredibly strong expectations some cultures and societies place on women to marry and make babies "before it's too late".

The latter was my least favorite part of the book but I can acknowledge that these pressures on women have been around forever and will likely continue for quite some time.

Although some elements in Chat Love sadly affected my overall enjoyment see spoiler , I can honestly say I liked this book and devoured the humor-filled parts along with the sexual tension that comes along with adult romantic interest.

If you enjoy hopelessly romantic chick-lit books and feel strongly about supporting independent authors, check out Chat Love! In an effort to provide an honest review, I must note a few things that affected my overall enjoyment, thus prompting 3 stars versus 4 or 5 stars.

The elements that genuinely added humor of course I didn't mind because is just offered that many more laughs - I would read an entire book written by Ms.

Faeth of these crazy online dating encounters! But the main characters' indecisiveness towards one another was like watching a tennis match on steroids and at times their actions and communication didn't quite make sense to me as a reader.

Also, there was an identity mystery similar to the one in the movie You've Got Mail that was so blatantly obvious I felt a bit insulted as a reader.

However, after assuring myself that this couldn't have been meant to be a real surprise to readers themselves, I just continued reading and tried to enjoy watching the characters be surprised.

Frankly, I couldn't believe that they didn't figure it out themselves but it's all good. I guess it added to that stressful climax that is often included in your typical romantic comedy.

I can't fault the author for this though - the world definitely needs some more positive energy in it! I couldn't help myself and added some sarcastic images related to online dating.

These cracked me up and hopefully they will give someone else a laugh or two as well. No offense is intended.

I got completely hooked on this funny, exhilarating love story. Like I said, some may find the plot rather predictable, but finding how all the pieces come together in the end brought a smile on my face.

I highly recommend reading this book. May 12, Ivana - Diary of Difference rated it it was ok Shelves: stars-2 , format-ebook , read-in , genre-romance.

Blog Facebook Twitter Instagram Pinterest I wanted to read this book immediately after reading the synopsis, and I was honoured when the author, Justine Faeth, approached me and sent me an ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.

The book synopsis is a very promising one. Lucia is having trouble finding a man. With Chat Love, I found the whole setting of the book unrealistic.

Lucia is an Italian lady. She is a city girl and a business woman. She is searching for love. See, Lucia is under pressure by her Italian family to get married.

And I can completely understand that pressure, being born in a country where I have met people with similar beliefs. In some scenes though, it appears as if she hates her family, and has very bad attitude towards them.

I understand completely where her frustration comes from. But then, on the other hand, we have a Lucia that is being a hypocrite. But going on a date with a man for the first time, and telling him you want to get serious is creepy.

It scares people away. It makes people think you are a creep. Also, given the fact that the synopsis promises an online app, this left me disappointed.

Apart from a few letters from Jake. Honestly, I expected a back and forth conversations with men before a date happens. In the book, we get to see Lucia dating a lot of men.

And all these men had something wrong with them. But she never screwed up. I will be honest with you now, and you people need to be honest with yourselves.

In your life, you will meet people, and some people will make you giggle. Others might make you gag. But sometimes, the reason for a bad date is you.

I am only trying to be honest here. I have screwed up a few dates myself, and you must have done the same thing too. We have to move on and try not to blame others for our mistakes.

I wish this been represented in this book. I really wish I loved this book. I have mixed feelings, because despite all, this book did make me think and bring up discussions with people around the various topics, from family beliefs, to being creepy on first dates, to finding out what you really like.

If you love chick-lit and short romance funny novels, you might enjoy it. If you think any of this discussion points is intriguing, you might enjoy it.

I would love to have a chat and see what you think of this book. Blog Facebook Twitter Instagram Pinterest May 18, Ashley rated it it was amazing.

It had been on my to-read list and I had every intention of reading it but I'm so glad she contacted me and it was moved to the top of my list!

I really enjoyed this book!! I'm a sucker for good chick-lit and Chat Love definitely fit the bill. Justine's writing has a wonderful easy flow about it.

Kind of reminds me of one of my favorite authors, Emily Giffin. I didn't want to put the book down and stayed up entirely too late reading it.

I instantly liked Lucia and her group of friends. Felt like I could hang out with them which made me feel more invested in their stories.

There were parts where I found myself laughing out loud, specifically when Lucia was on one of her horrible dates. And there were times when I wanted to yell at Lucia for some of her choices.

I really felt for her with her family dynamic and their constant nagging about her relationship status. I knew they meant well and only wanted her to be happy, but I wanted to tell them to back off lol.

I was pulling for her and Jackson from the beginning. There were parts of their relationship that reminded me of, You've Got Mail, but more with the current times and a little more believable.

It was obvious that they both really cared for each other but both were afraid of getting hurt. There were times when I thought oh come on get together already.

But how they finally came together was perfect. The epilogue was adorable and I love that Lucia and Jackson got their happily ever after along with all of her friends!

May 07, Helen Power rated it really liked it Shelves: author-publisher-giveaway , romance. Synopsis Lucia has the perfect life--a budding career, wonderful friends, and a great family.

Her friends convince her to try Chat Love, an online dating service. She goes on an endless string of bad dates with the men she meets on this website, all the while trying to ignore the handsome jerk in the office who has his eye on her Lucia is a lovable protagonist, and I really wanted her to find love.

I fell in love with her love interest, who is charming, witty, and definitely sexy. This book was written before online dating became very popular, and it was fun to read about the stigmas that people had and many still have about dating strangers they meet on the internet.

At first, Lucia is very hesitant to try online dating, but eventually she folds after receiving pressure from her family, because her little sister and husband are expecting a baby.

Though, I was exhausted just reading about them! At one point, she refers to the dates of the week as Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

The introvert in me cringed at that. Take a day off, Lucia! Without these types of obstacles, the romantic leads would get together in twenty pages, not two hundred!

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a cute, funny, romantic read with Sex and the City vibes. Jun 04, Ashley rated it really liked it Shelves: read , romance , books-i-enjoyed , fun , review-book , contemporary , chick-lit , adult , e-book , cute.

My Thoughts: I just want to thank the author, Justine Faeth, for sending me a message asking me to review her book.

I am always up for a good chick-lit, which is what I heard this was. I enjoyed this story. I thought it was cute and fun. Some of what Lucia was going through hit home for me.

I am a late twenties single lady who is always getting asked Where's the boyfriend? You better find somebody quick, you don't want to be alone forever.

That's always a boost to my self esteem! I however, have My Thoughts: I just want to thank the author, Justine Faeth, for sending me a message asking me to review her book.

I however, have not yet joined any kind of internet dating site. I'm still leery. And I know I'm single because I'm incredibly awkward, but this book did give me hope that my Mr.

Right is somewhere out there, and it's just a matter of time before I meet him. I enjoyed this book. I thought it was cute. It was also a really fast read.

It had a very addictive quality to it as well. At times, I did feel like I was reading from a diary of Lucia's, just with how this happened, then this happened, then that happened.

There were also some random jumps in time that didn't exactly flow in the story. As it neared the end, I did get a little tired of the he loves me, he loves me not attitude.

It was fairly obvious who Lucia was meant to be with, and it just took longer to get there than I would have liked.

My only other nitpick is that every character seemed to be successful, beautiful, and really have no problems except being single.

Not all of them felt like real people. Some characters and situations felt like watching an episode of Gossip Girl.

I'm happy that I got to read this book. It was a cute, fun read, that delivered a sweet, romantic story.

Thanks to the author for letting me read and review it. It's cute, and I'd say give it a read. I absolutely loved it once i started i couldn't put it down!

It follows an Italian women on the quest for love she tries everything including online dating. Until she realizes her love was in front of her the whole time.

A definite must read if you love chick-lit and romance. Can wait for Justine to write another book! Brilliant author and written so well.

With the pressures from her family to get married and start having children, Lucia finds that she is almo Disclaimer: This book was sent to me by the author, Justine Faeth, for an honest review.

With the pressures from her family to get married and start having children, Lucia finds that she is almost twenty-eight with no future for a decent relationship on the horizon.

With so many failed relationships in her past, Lucia finds it more and more difficult to meet a great guy outside of a bar or club. So with much persuading from her friends, she decides to join an online dating site called Chat Love.

As Lucia starts going on dates, she finds herself being on more disastrous dates than positive ones. To make matters even more complicated, her arrogant and promiscuous co-worker Jackson starts acting flirty towards her.

This was a very welcome and nice change from the books I normally read. This story was something truly relatable and amusing, and I think most women will find one or two things that mirror their own experiences with men.

Lucia is a career driven young woman, who like most of us, have just had bad luck with men. As she starts to near turning thirty, she starts to worry more and more about finding someone to settle down with.

Lucia is from a very large and loud Italian family, so of course her parents are constantly questioning her about who she is dating and when she is going to pop out some children.

Thankfully for me, I have never had to go through that with my family. The main characters that surround Lucia are fun and definitely have their own big personalities.

I loved Lucias male friends that were the epitome of what most guys around me are like. They are crude but hilarious, and constantly finding a new woman to take home with them.

I enjoyed Lucia and Jackson the most. I think it is fairly obvious how this story is going to end, so we might as well draw attention to it yes?

Jackson and Lucia have that typical relationship where there is an obvious physical attraction, but Jackson is a player and is known for getting with A LOT of women.

We follow Lucia as she dates different men, while also figuring out what is happening between her and Jackson.

I wish that was actually possible…but whatever ; Overall, I really liked this read. It took me a few chapters to get into it, but once I did I just wanted to keep reading and reading.

I bet she will just love it! Oct 11, Caitlin Weiss rated it really liked it. I really enjoyed this book! It reminded me of Sophie Kinsella's style of writing, one of my favorite authors.

Now, fast forward to her trip home from the restaurant in a taxi; Lucia is on the phone with the friend who set her up on the blind date tonight and she turns to see her date Richard in the car next to her as they are both stopped at a red light.

Imagine her disgust when he not only picks a winner, he eats it!! After all, she just had kissy-face with him.

Never fear, Lucia meets her match, but the journey is the tale. Oh and it is a lovely tale to tell. You will enjoy meeting all her friends, family and co-workers.

Jul 17, Noriko rated it it was amazing.

It was a quick, incredibly riveting read; I finished reading it in two days which doesn't happen to me so often - a testament that shows how captivating the book is.

The plot was well-written and it was just so much fun to read! The try and error part that describes the ups and downs of the dating site is just hilarious.

Although the overall plot was a bit predictable, especially I could foresee the spark between the main two characters from miles away and knew all too well how they were going to end up, I just couldn't stop turning pages.

Try them! There are no sub-rooms of this category , but we suggest the best rooms of the category above.
